Ive ran this league 6 seasons now and it doesnt surprise me to hear the jittering of " This Ref Sucks". I dont know how else to tell some of you. Ive never seen a perfect ref or heard of one. What gets me pissed off is when you drop a pass or throw an interception that doesnt hurt you, but a missed call or a wrong call by a ref hurts you?
Be fair, because as a ref I have no interest in who wins or does what. And this goes for my other refs that help me out. Maybe if i make the registration $5000 then I can hire some NFL refs? But im sure there will be problems then. There is no problem with coming to us and letting us know to watch this and that during the game. And please remember there is only 1 ref watching 8 players.
Im just telling, for the 50th time, this is the game of flag football. Calls will be good and bad but Im not trying to hear this ref this and that ref that. For those of you who have not complained and continued to play your game, Thank You.

Sal I am not saying this because we won... You are in the AFG which means you are going to get an ear full whether its from this side or that..... We gave you alot of $hit when we thought Ali Etemodi scored on our first drive. The point is you are not on any team and it does not bennifit you on who wins or loses... I know Elmar feels the same way and you know as well as I do things get heated in the games. If you would have called it short of the TD im sure you would have got the same negative reaction from us. Us and the Turfhoppers know its nothing personal and you have nothing to apolagize for.... Its tuff to do all the things you do for the league and still have to reff.. Its a no win situation for you and your still doing it.... So thanks.

Sal it was a 50/50 call. You gotta go with your first instinct (which you did). From where we were standing you couldnt tell at all what happened. I would hate to be the ref on that play!!

My two cents is this: I understand every team has their issues with the reffing of games. We have had big calls go against us plenty of times at the end of the game, so I understand the frustration. Plain and simple, THERE MUST BE TWO REFS ON THE FIELD FOR EVERY GAME! without a doubt there will at the least be another set of eyes watching the play objectively. The way we can make this happen is simple. Since we have so many teams playing in this league we can either 1. Raise the league fees and pay for refs or 2. Every team that is not playing must have two people: the captian and one other member of the team, that knows the rules, must volunteer to referee a game. Maybe both teammates reffing seperate games so their is no confusion.
I know having one other person on both sides of the field will at the very least give both teams a fair chance. not to say the calls that have been made are wrong. Maybe we should stop talking about it and start doing things about it. Thats the only way the situation will improve.

Omar has a valid point, however just to elaborate on what he said, many people have frustrations about reffing. Everyone complains about how bad their game was reffed. One of the main issues is there are many vets in this league that has played the game for YEARS, but when Sal is scrambling to find a second reff or pair of eyes to help reff everyone wants to look away and hide. It has gotten to the point where Sal is having problems finding one reff for each game let alone two. When Sal needs help their is always a select few that step up, and a bunch of veterans of the league hide.... Simply put as Omar said if you want an extra reff in your game, you have to be willing to be in extra reff in another......like the old saying goes u gotta bring @ss to get @ss.... lol

Omar is right though, especially in games as big as the one as yesterday. To avoid all of the problems we had yesterday, if Sal needs an extra ref, he should be able to have one. For every team, there should be at least two people that can be called upon to be a designated ref. We've all played long enough to know basic calls to know enough if someone made a catch or where the ball should be spotted. I know Sal had to make a 50/50 call, but if there was another ref on the other side, he could have confirmed it instead of Sal having to take all the heat of making a tough call with a bad angle. With all the people watching on the sideline, i know at least one of them was able to ref. Bottom line, we need to find a way to get two refs on the field. Or even if its one ref, the ref should be in the middle of the field so he can see both sides equally or something...

I would also love for there to be 2 refs in every game but everyone has to also understand it is very hard for Sal to get that extra set of eyes when players either leave right after their second game or dont show up till the second game cuz they have the first game off. If we can talk to all the teams and have 2 guys from every team that is not playing stick around or come early then it is very possible to get the extra set of eyes.....im sure Sal has it all figured out for the Playoffs anyway...

Thats right. Not pointing anyone out, but the people that have the biggest complaints about reffing are most of the time the same people that wont take 30 min to help reff someone elses.

You guys are absolutely right...We need 2 refs and your also right its hard to get 1 ref as it is..Ive tried hiring refs but they dont run the games smooth as they should.. My only pro refs in flag football who are exp are Curtis and John Mora.. Its easy to pick ppl out to help but they got to know the rules? As im reffing a game i get other players come on to my field and go over a rule? We have a rules page and everyone must read it, its very simple to learn the basic rules... That will help alot... But im working on getting refs its just that its tough to find qualified refs... As for the playoffs, we always have 2 refs...
I swear guys im trying the best as i can...My goal is to make this league a great one with high competition and fairness... I think we are progressing as seasons go on.. Thanks

Maybe if you guys actually made plays and stop relying so much on the refs things would be much easier. Players win games not refs.

SAL I HAVE A SUGGESTION MAYBE THOSE TEAMS THAT ARE NOT PLAYING U MAKE A SCHEDULE ON BULLETIN BOARD WHO WILL BE REFFING ON WHICH FIELD AND TIME. AND IF THEY DONT SHOW UP WE WILL DEAL WITH THIS REF B S UNTIL PPL START PARTICIPATING
